About the event

Please join us for a special event to raise support for our exciting upcoming new exhibition Columbia Air Center -- Determined to Fly. The event will include a preview of the exhibition, curator’s remarks, and a Virtual Reality experience provided by the Sankofa Mobile Museum, with honorary chairs the Honorable Glenn Ivey (US Representative of Maryland’s 4th Congressional District) and Denise Rolark Barnes (publisher and owner of the Washington Informer).

Columbia Air Center was the first licensed African American owned and operated airport in the United States. This airfield was located in Croom, Prince George’s County, Maryland, 30 miles southeast of College Park, MD and operated from 1940-1962.
